We are seeking a seasoned Billing Operations Associate who thrives both as an independent contributor and as a collaborative team member. In this role, you’ll be an integral part of a dynamic team, helping to shape and grow a cutting-edge commercial insurance product from the ground up.
You will work cross-functionally with teams across the organization, from Underwriting to Engineering, ensuring seamless collaboration and alignment. As a key member of the Finance team, you’ll lead and prioritize critical projects that drive Nirvana’s financial growth and operational excellence.
Your responsibilities will include owning and optimizing existing financial processes that support both internal stakeholders and external clients. Additionally, you’ll be tasked with building new processes and solving complex, undefined challenges, playing a vital role in our company’s continued success.

Job functions

  • Own the entire customer billing audit process and be responsible for the automation, efficiency and accuracy of the process
  • Own Agency and Customer communications as it pertains to audits (invoices, refunds, bad debt, etc.)
  • Partner with Product team and other business partners to help build and implement new Finance workflows that scale as our organization grows particularly as it pertains to billing and customer workflows.
  • Be a foundational driver of results for a modern day finance function for an emerging insurance product
  • Ensure items are invoiced, collected, and reconciled accurately and timely
  • Interact with Nirvana customers on a daily basis, servicing their unique business needs

Qualifications and requirements

  • 2+ years in a finance related role (Consulting, Accounting, Operations or Billing)
  • Proficiency in Excel
  • Proven track record of attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills, both written & verbal
  • Thorough critical thinker who isn’t afraid to make decisions
  • Self-starter who independently seeks out opportunities to learn & succeed
  • Bias-to-action - you’re not afraid to get your hands dirty & stretch yourself
  • Owner mentality - take accountability for your actions & results
  • Successfully able to work in high-growth & ambiguous start-up environments
  • Written and verbal fluency in English
