The Role

As a Backend Software Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the server-side components of our applications. You will collaborate closely with product managers, frontend developers, and other cross-functional teams to deliver robust and scalable backend services that power critical features and support rapid growth.

• This is a fully onsite position, based at our office in Lisbon, where you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams in person and contribute to a dynamic and fast-paced environment. We are open to support with relocation efforts.

Responsibilities

• API & Service Architecture - Design and build RESTful or GraphQL APIs, microservices, and business logic using Node.js and TypeScript.

• Database Design & Integration - Model data and manage queries using Supabase and PostgreSQL, including functions, row-level security, and real-time features.

• Cloud Infrastructure - Deploy and manage services on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), particularly with Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, IAM, and Pub/Sub.

• Code Quality & Testing - Write clean, testable code using unit, integration, and end-to-end testing frameworks (e.g., Jest). Contribute to code reviews and quality assurance practices.

• Security & Reliability - Implement secure-by-default solutions for authentication, authorization, and data protection, following Clean Code and Clean Architecture principles.

• Monitoring & Operations - Set up logging, monitoring, and alerting for backend services. Own incident response and uptime improvements.

• Team Collaboration - Participate in architecture discussions, mentor team members, and document your decisions and systems for internal knowledge sharing.

Requirements

• 5+ years in backend engineering roles;

• Proficiency in Node.js and TypeScript;

• Strong experience with Supabase or equivalent PostgreSQL-based backend services;

• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (e.g., GCP, AWS, Azure), including deploying and managing services using serverless compute (e.g., Cloud Run, AWS Lambda, Azure Functions);

The Role:

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will play a critical role in advancing the Arrive Health Network platform—a core part of Interra Health’s ecosystem that powers real-time prescription decision-making and cost transparency at the point of care.

You will help guide the design and development of scalable, high-impact systems used by providers and care teams to deliver more accessible and affordable treatment options. Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement complex greenfield projects used directly by providers and clinical staff

• Partner with engineering and product leadership on planning, prioritization, and execution

Software Engineer I - Dev Tooling

About the role

You'll own the backend for a live mobile F2P game and the AI agentic platform that powers how we operate it. Feature releases, live ops, monetization, analytics pipeline, reliability. Senior IC with real ownership from day one and a path to platform / tech lead as we scale. You work with our production systems serving real players and real revenue. The primary stack is TypeScript/Node.js (Fastify) with MongoDB, ClickHouse, Redis, and RabbitMQ. The AI tooling layer is Go. We use AI heavily as part of how we work. To keep up innovation, Benchling needs highly scalable and effective infrastructure and developer experience pipelines that serve our internal engineers.

Developer Experience is a crucial function that empowers our engineers to excel in their craft. As a technical leader in the Platform pillar, you’ll work closely with the Developer Productivity and Release Engineering teams to create tools and frameworks that enhance developer experience, with a focus on the Path to Production. Your success will enable our engineering teams to efficiently deliver high quality products. By understanding the unique challenges developers face and crafting solutions to streamline their workflows, you'll play a key role in driving innovation and fulfilling Benchling’s mission. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Build and implement tooling for efficient, frictionless development, testing, and packaging for production release.

• Lead the design and development of release tooling that enables code changes to reach production within 10 minutes.

• Iterate on developer experience improvements using qualitative and quantitative feedback.

• Implement feedback loops that integrate quality into software development workflows.

• Champion effective engineering and operational patterns across the Engineering org.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address challenges in engineering workflows that impact developer happiness and productivity.

• Work closely with product managers, designers, and peers in engineering to make Benchling a delightful place to develop software.

• Help rapidly scale our product and team. As a member of the engineering team, you'll be an integral part of how we mature our tooling, best practices, engineering processes, and hiring. 

QUALIFICATIONS

• Have 7+ years of experience in software engineering.

• Have 5+ years of experience with containerized applications (Docker, Kubernetes, etc) in production.

• Build software with a product-first approach. You ship code quickly and care about the real world impact of your code.

• Expertise with at least one web framework, preferably node or python.

• Have strong abilities in problem solving and iterating on feedback.

• Enjoy ownership and building key pieces of product.

• Have empathy for your customers and curiosity about their challenges.

• Are interested in learning more about life science (prior knowledge is not required; desire to learn is a must).

• Clear and effective communicator, especially in cross-functional settings

We're continuing to invest heavily in building the best creator platform with the best team in the creator economy and are looking for a Senior Software Engineer focused on Identity and Access to support our mission.

This role is available as a hybrid (two days per week in office) in New York or San Francisco, or as fully remote in other locations.

About the Team

Patreon's Identity and Access team builds and maintains core Patreon systems related to user identity and authentication. They work on projects such as identity verification, user authentication, and account takeover detection and prevention. This team is part of Patreon’s Risk Engineering org that also includes Information Security and Safety Engineering. You’ll be part of Patreon’s larger engineering organization and will work with cross functional partners such as legal, compliance, security, trust and safety, and anti-fraud.

About the Role

• Write backend/full stack code as part of Patreon’s core product.

• Build and deploy user-facing systems such as multi-factor authentication flows, ID verification systems, and account takeover detections.

• Engage with stakeholders to define requirements and balance a range of security, privacy, and compliance needs.

• Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, designers, and other engineers to deliver high quality features.

• Champion innovative solutions that improve security and usability for creators and their fans.

• Contribute to growth and maturity of the team by improving processes, providing mentorship, and helping to expand the organization.

About You

A strong candidate will have most (but need not have all) of the following:

• You have 2-3+ years of experience in software development.

• You have experience with Python or a similar language.

• You are familiar with the security and privacy concerns inherent to dealing with identity data or authentication flows.

• You’re comfortable with data storage techniques and understand how data modeling, performance, and reliability intersect in real-world systems.

• You’ve worked on consumer-facing features where quality, experience, and emotional feel matter.

• You’re energized by fast iteration: shipping MVPs, testing hypotheses, and evolving products based on what creators and fans respond to.

• You take pride in creating elegant solutions to messy, real-world problems and balancing pragmatic trade-offs.

• You believe in Patreon’s mission: giving creators control over their work and building communities that feel good to be in.

• Bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or the equivalent
