Requirements

We want someone who enjoys building dependable data pipelines and can handle migration complexity end-to-end.

  • Hands-on SSIS package development (data flows, error handling, and deployment).
  • Strong T-SQL experience with a practical, DBA-inspired mindset (query correctness, data integrity, and reliability).
  • Proven experience moving data between different database platforms, including data type conversion work from MySQL to MS SQL.
  • Experience implementing staging and crosswalk loads, including parent/child ID remapping patterns.
  • Ability to build packages that support restartable reruns after failures.
  • Track record validating migrations with row-count reconciliation, checksums, and exception handling (not just checking logs).
  • Comfort working with legacy systems and transforming messy or inconsistent source data into reliable target schemas.

Responsibilities

We are looking for an engineer who will deliver hands-on SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) packages for data migration and transformation. Our focus is on robust, production-grade ETL—especially the details that make migrations safe and restartable.

  • Develop SSIS packages with data flows, solid error handling, and reliable deployment practices.
  • Build SSIS solutions that go beyond “ETL in general” by implementing proven patterns for operational reliability (clear failure modes, logs, and recoverability).
  • Use strong T-SQL skills to support extraction, transformation, validation, and performance-aware data operations (DBA-like thinking, without requiring full administrative ownership).
  • Move and transform data across database platforms, with special attention to data type conversion and edge cases when migrating from MySQL to MS SQL.
  • Implement staging and crosswalk loads, including scenarios where parent records receive new IDs during the load and child records must be mapped to those new IDs.
  • Design packages with reruns so a failed load can be restarted cleanly and deterministically.
  • Validate migrations using row counts, checksums, and exception tables—ensuring we do not ship migrations that only “ran.”
  • Collaborate with our team to interpret legacy data quirks, translate business rules into transformations, and ensure consistent delivery standards.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Biml or generating SSIS packages from metadata.
  • Any legacy system migration work, especially where multiple data domains and mapping rules are involved.
  • Familiarity with automation around validations (e.g., repeatable reconciliation workflows).
  • Experience modernizing migration approaches over time (standardizing patterns, improving rerun strategies, reducing manual effort).

Benefits

  • Long-term contract.
  • 100% Remote.
  • Vacations and PTOs.
  • Possibility of receiving 2 bonuses per year.
  • Two salary reviews per year.
  • English classes.
  • Apple equipment.
  • Online course platform.
  • Budget to buy books.
  • Budget for work materials.
  • Much more..
